There is enough food in the world today for everyone to have the nourishment necessary for a healthy and productive life. World hunger organizations estimate that over 1 billion people around the world are chronically hungry. Every 5 seconds a child dies of hunger. It costs just 25 cents to fill a cup of food.

  • If you buy lattes at a coffee shop a few times a week, have a regular coffee one of those days and donate the extra money. The $2 difference feeds 8 people struggling with hunger.

  • Bring your own snacks to a children's event. A couple of dollars feeds 8 people in some areas of the world.

  • If there is free parking a few blocks away, park free, walk and donate the few dollars for parking. Three dollars feeds 12 people that day in need of food.

  • When eating out, once in a while skip that extra side of guacamole, fries, dressing etc... A $1.50 donation feeds 6 people struggling with hunger.

  • If you are surprised by multiple sale items at the market, pass one of those savings on. 50¢ feeds 2 people in need.

  • If you find a quarter you could pass it on to someone hungry.

  • If you go out to dinner a few times a week, eat in one of those evenings and donate the money to feed a family. A $50 dinner can feed a family for almost month in another country.

  • If you go out to the movies once a week, stay in one week and rent a movie and then donate that money to those in need. $20 can go a long way to feed people in impoverished areas.

  • If you get a weekly manicure or pedicure, skip a week and donate that money. You can then have friends over for a girls spa night and do each others’ nails.

  • Go veggie for a month and use the money you saved on meat to donate to a family in need.

  • Drink water one entire day a week and donate your soda/juice/cocktail money to a hungry child.

  • If you usually eat lunch out, bring your lunch to work once a week and donate that money to feed a family in need.

  • For birthdays and holidays, make gifts and donate the money you saved on retail gifts to feed the hungry.

  • Buy recycled and vintage and donate the money saved to those in need.

  • Grow your own food and donate the money saved to feed others.

  • Don’t give up anything and donate a little bit anyway...every dollar can make a difference.

  • Buy a mindful tee and help promote the idea. The sale of every t-shirt will feed 10 people struggling with hunger. The sale of each piece of jewelry will feed 20 to 30 people.

  • Tell your friends and family about one mindful act.

  • The ideas are endless...what’s your mindful act?
